EU support used effectively to strengthen the competitive ability of UAB Serpantinas
UAB Serpantinas is a dynamic and constantly expanding company of wholesale and retail sales established in 1992. Since its incorporation, the company has been effectively cooperating with and is an official representative of such world-famous companies as ESAB, 3M, Globe, Gen Set, Milwaukee, Plymovent, Binzel, Mark etc.
During the 22 successful years in trade, UAB Serpantinas became one of the leaders in the welding market of Lithuania. Currently the company’s sales network comprises six affiliates in the largest Lithuanian cities – Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipėda, Šiauliai, Panevėžys and Mažeikiai, employing more than 50 professional specialists of their field.
The company successfully uses the EU aid funds and has just completed the implementation of the project Improvement of the efficiency of UAB Serpantinas’ operations by introducing modern management systems under the Lithuanian strategy for the use of European Union structural aid in 2007-2013 and Procesas LT measure of Priority 2 “Increasing the business productivity and improving the environment for business” of the Operational Programme for Economic Growth. The project value amounted to LTL 87,000.00, and a half of this sum was financed from the funds of the European Regional Development Fund and budget of the Republic of Lithuania.
ISO 9001:2008, ISO 14001:2005 and BS OHSAS 18001:2007 systems implemented in the course of the project will allow improving the financial and performance indicators of the company. It is noteworthy that these systems will enable aligning the internal processes of the company and creating the conditions for better management of resources and processes as well as of operations of the company. It is expected that the project will substantially enhance the involvement of employees in the company’s activities and its growth. Upon implementation of the project, competitive ability of the company in the long-term perspective will be ensured.
According to the Director of the company Augimantas Čepelis, this project will encourage focus on financial indicators as well process improvement, investments in employees and customer relationships as well as align the long- and short-term objectives; the company will be able to plan more smoothly and to seek long-term objectives as well as to ensure the sustainability of business results. It will be also able to offer competitive products for its customers, ensure the quality of services provided and strive for effective cost management in its operations. It is planned that project activities will significantly contribute to the increase in sales and labour efficiency, acceleration of export growth and increase of market share, and this will in turn result in increased customer trust and loyalty.
